I've been to physical therapy two days in a row.
I am afraid to knit.

Last Sunday (my birthday!) I went to Saueklipp og Bukkehorn day at the Norwegian Folk Museum.
This lady was knitting when we came across her... then she stood up and blew this horn.
Then there was Caroline Nicol shearing the sheep! She is VERY good at it.
The sheep, however, seemed a tad embarassed afterwards.
Oslo Husflid's association was there doing various things, like bobbin lace.
Felting...
Gnomes!
Knitting...
Making jewelry...
In one of the buildings...
We found a spinning wheel...
And a spinning lady!
Who might be willing to teach us! Yay!

Feather and Fan Triangle Shawl
Yarn: from Evilla - unspun, 170 g in purples and greys.
Pattern: from Folk Shawls
Needles: 5mm
Start Date: September 8, 2006.
The Evilla yarns bring to mind the GORGEOUS Karen Noe yarn that Karine used to make the scarf that was pictured during our first brush with fame.
This particular yarn, called plategarn - plate yarn - in Norwegian, is unspun and comes in a flat, round roll like this...
Being unspun, it's fiddly to work with, but certainly doable. If you're working with one strand, the trick is to think of the yarn as a baby hummingbird. The least amount of tension and you've pulled it apart. I have the yarn end coming out of the middle of the plate and am (gently!) pulling out a few yards every now and then to keep it moving without having to tug on it at all. If I were using this yarn for a more substantial garment, I'd either use it double stranded (with one strand from the middle and one from the outer edge) or together with another yarn.
The Potatomouse socks are floundering (hee) but still active...
The Trekking XXL is #107 by the way. Gor. Geous.
AND! I finished something somewhere along the line...

(Applause) Hello Kari!
First up, what is it with Kidsilk and cats?? That's the only yarn that Stewart has actually tried to eat. Maybe Norwegian cats just have particularly good taste? And catspit? If it's not a word, it should be.
Anyhoo - the next strikkekafé is this next Thursday, September 7th from 7pm to 10 pm at Pikene på Hjørnet in Lillestrøm. And of course you're welcome! In fact, I shall be very disappointed if you don't. All you have to do is take the train to Lillestrøm, take a right when you come down from the platform, then a left when you come out of the station and you're there!
That goes for the rest of you out there who are in the area as well!
Oh! And I speak Norwegian! Really!

Not I!
The weather today has been just wonderful - blue skies, fluffy white clouds, a slight breeze and about room temperature outside. I'm convinced Norway just does this every once in a while to lure people into staying.

We spent the last half of summer at my parent's house in North Carolina... need I say they had to drag me onto the plane home?
Making matters worse, Franklin now has a real! live! yarn shop : Silver Threads and Golden Needles. (Hi, Linda!) She carries Trekking XXL, y'all.
So I started a Pomatomus.
As the moon flower bloomed.
...
Then we came home...
Sigh.
