While in Amsterdam, I stopped by de Afstap
De Afstap
and had a lovely conversation with the owner who - strangely enough - had a number of Norwegian books she bought while visiting her brother in my husband's home town. I picked up Norsk Strikkedesign

and six skeins of Cashcotton 4ply in Seafoam...
Something new!
...and - naturally - having finished something, had to start something new!

I seriously considered Chicknit's adorable (new!) lacy cardigan CeCe but, alas, this yarn didn't want to be lacy. Instead it wants to be a stripeless Essential Stripe from Knit and Tonic!

Is a stripeless Essential Stripe... Essential? Why, yes! Yes it is!

Something finished and Birch progress.

First up, I finished the Pinwheel blanket... with 500 stitches at bind off. (Whew.)

Made of Juvel, from idena on 4.5 mm needles. (Colors can be seen here.) I had to buy a 120 cm circular to finish it and did about 6 rows of solid-colour garter stitch at the edge, which took up most of a 50 gram skein. I think I used 5 skeins of the variegated.

Stewart is of the opinion that it was worth it.

Speaking of happy things, spring has come to Norway. Within one week we went from temperatures around 4-5C to upwards of 20C for days and days... the sun shone in a clear blue sky and everything turned green almost overnight. It's a bit cooler today, but still... Green!!

Birch progress

Here's the (also green.. in fact, meadow) Birch with 150 stitches left... it's nearer 140 now and I'm really aware of how much shorter rows of 140 sts are than rows of 299.

And that's my new sitting on the porch chair!
