Meme.
Whoo hoo! I've been meme'd by Karine!
10 years ago: I was starting to get comfortable in my body again after reconstructive surgery and chemotherapy for breast cancer the previous year.
5 years ago: I realized (via woolworks.org) there was a whole universe of knitter's online!
One year ago: I started working as a nurse in Norway. (Is it too early to be burnt out?)
5 treats I enjoy:
- Popcorn and Pepsi.
- A cold bottle of Weston's Cider.
- A really good tomato sandwich, on soft white bread with mayonnaise and salt.
- Newly picked apples, cut up with Dad's pocket knife.
- Really good vanilla icecream with really good chocolate sauce. And whipped cream.
5 songs I know the text to:
- The Couch - Alanis Morisette... well most of that album, really.
- Juvet - Iren Reppen, from Det e hard å være mainn.
- Texas - Chris Rea.
- Song for a winter's night - written by Gordon Lightfoot, performed by Sarah McLachlan.

5 things I would do with 100 millon kroner:
- Travel. See below.
- Redecorate. With professional help.
- Fly my friends and family to visit us and really show them around Norway.
- Go out to dinner at Bagatelle and order the Grand Menu and a horrendously expensive wine.
- Open a yarn shop.
5 places I'd like to run away to:
- The Outer Banks of North Carolina
- Northern Norway either at midsummer or midwinter if I were garanteed to see the Northern Lights.
- The Shetland Islands
- Savannah, Georgia on St. Patrick's Day... with a room at the Olde Harbour Inn overlooking River Street..
- My parent's house.
5 things I would never wear:
- Thong underwear.
- Tapered jeans.
- Fur.
- Shoes with really pointy toes.
- Neon colors.

- Daily Show
- Lost
- Flog it
- The Simpsons
- Anything David Attenborough does.
5 greatest joys:
- A clean and orderly kitchen. (Seldom happens, but... still - it's a joy when it does.)
- Snuggling.
- Having something really good to look forward to.
- Seeing the people I love be really happy.
- Warm socks.
Favorite toys:
- My digital camera.
- Kitchen gadgets.
- Hmmm... quite sad, really, that I have so few toys!

Knit It.
I wandered into Oslo this afternoon to check out Knit It - a performance artpiece about caring and compassion. It involved a group of people working on white pieces of knitting outside the Nobel Peace Center. It's being held in various cities around the world today and twice a year from 2004-2006. Unfortunately I only read about it this morning so I wasn't dressed properly (dark suit, white shirt, red tie) to participate. I'd love to join in next time though!The event will be organized again next year on March 21 and September 21... the spring and fall equinoxes.
It was lovely to see how many men were involved. Even a couple of teenage boys! And
watching them turning to the ladies around them for help was particularly sweet.

What I've been doing.
Finished a second Kitty Pi in Gjestal's Vestlandsgarn, colors 284, 292 and 254, approximately 1 skein of each. This one's a gift for someone else's kitty (shhhh!) but as soon as it was done blocking, Stewart crawled in and went to sleep. (Shhh...)
Started a Flower Basket shawl in one strand of thin alpaca from Du Store Alpakka, color 148.
And caught the husband both wearing his Fuzzy Feet and spontaneously doing a little pose while walking by. Miracles do indeed happen.
(These were the ones that were featured Knit Wit, made with Cascade 220.)
And today, the sweetest kid in the entire universe has made me 4 (count 'em 4!) new buttons:
And yesterday she told me that she didn't like my potato salad... she loved it. :o)
