The little stone house in the pictures from yesterday is a replica of a lighthouse from before 1660 ...
The building itself makes a lever for the iron basket with a fire inside to be hoisted up in the air.
On Saturday (the 17th of May, Norway's Constitution Day) the husband and I went for a lovely long drive down the west side of the Oslo fjord to Verdens Ende (Lit. "The End of the World"). It was too lovely not to share...

WHEW. I lived through all six hours of the Norwegian language test today. (The written one.) (Advanced Level.) For better or worse,
it's done.
Weather report: Trees greening further, the first jonquils in our garden blooming. Mixed rain and sunshine, comfortable temperatures for the most part.
Knitting report: I am almost finished with Amalie's vest.
I ran out of the purple yarn and had to search for more. I took some PT2 yarn that Sissel kindly gave me during our last SnB and made a little
felted bag. Annnnd I got impulsive and started on a Tomten jacket from Knitting Without Tears with some stash yarn. I'll charge the camera tonight and snap some pics tomorrow.
Miscellaneous: I'm horribly behind on emails and I haven't been around the knitblogs ring in weeks. If you're expecting something from me, don't give up just yet.
This evening I'm going to read through my shiny new Cast On magazine which I'm just noticing has an article with our own Annie Modesitt!
Ahhhh, English....
Yes, well, I like living in a country with royalty...
Update :: I don't really know what I got done during Easter break. I managed to cast on for Frode's back and get to above the first knot, and
started on my Knitty submission (keep your fingers crossed that I manage to get
finished by the submission date (day after tomorrow)... it snuck up on me) while sitting on the porch in the sunshine.
Speaking of sunshine, this was the warmest Easter, like, ever.
All the crocus (crocii?) bloomed and the trees are turning green. 'Course it didn't last and
there was snow on Sunday and rain since... might make it hard to get a decent photoshoot for the summer issue.
In other news, work is good. I like the job and I like the people. But working is leaving me exhausted. I know I will adjust... I just
hope it happens soon.
Norwegian word for today: utslitt (adj.) :: weary.
Synonym for the day for Norwegians: skalkeskjul :: brødboks.
Speaking of washing, I've thrown this one into the washer and dryer with no trouble.
I'm sure there are plenty of other yarns out there that would knit up to the same gauge... I peeked around and found
that Berroco's Pronto looks like a possible substitute.
Can you guys think of any other cotton/cotton-blend yarns that
knit to 3 sts per inch?
And Many Thanks to you wonderful people who continue to visit this page when it's so inordinately quiet. And Many More Thanks for the compliments on
this pattern!! This was a first for me - a sweater in multiple sizes - so I'll welcome any and all feedback about it! :o)

This is a weblog. It's mine. It tends to be about knitting
with occasional ramblings about my experience living in Norway.
(Sometimes it's the other way 'round.) Want to know more? Read
